Context
Wealth at scale is not one account but a portrait — cash, holdings, property, entities and the people who advise on them. Monarch Money is a private-banking surface that keeps the whole portrait in view for the owner and their team.
Challenge
Private banking is served either by spreadsheets no one trusts by Friday or by dashboards that flatten judgement into a gauge. The task was to give the numbers the calm of a printed statement while letting an assistant reason about them out loud.
Approach
The position comes first and the advice sits beside it, never over it. An assistant reads the same figures the owner sees and drafts the next move — a rebalance, a transfer, a question for the banker — which a person approves, so the machine proposes and the owner disposes.
Key decisions
One consolidated net position across accounts and entities. AI suggestions are always shown with their reasoning and the figures they rest on. Every action that moves money passes through a human confirmation with the amount, the account and the counterparty stated plainly.
The interface
A quiet, editorial layout: a net-worth line that reads like a headline, holdings ruled into a register, and an advice panel that speaks in full sentences rather than badges.
Outcome
A banking surface a principal can open once a day and understand in a minute — and an assistant that saves the reading, not the deciding.
